Animals

Grant writer: Helping Paws Therapy, Reading & Service Animals is searching for a grant writer to identify, prepare for, and write grants. Interested applicants should send references and examples of success in grant writing, and they should be willing to submit to a background check.

Children & Youth

Slide Show Producer: ALearn, an organization that helps low-income students achieve math proficiency, needs a volunteer to produce a PowerPoint slide show for their annual fundraiser. The slide show will be a compilation of photos set to music. The volunteer must be at least sixteen, and the project will take approximately eight hours.

Knitter: Binky Patrol, Inc., which provides comfort to needy babies and teens, is looking for volunteers to knit or crochet hats for newborns, including preemies. Volunteers are encouraged to knit in groups. Hats should be machine washable and contain NO ribbons, strings, ties, bows, or any other attachments. Completed hats can be mailed to a chapter of Binky Patrol.

Journalism Internship: The BORGEN Project, which is dedicated to making poverty a focus of U.S. foreign policy, has a volunteer position available for a 12-week journalism internship. The intern would research and write two articles per week, and the articles would appear in BORGEN Magazine or The Borgen Project Blog. 

Social Media Whiz: Peaceful Hearts Foundation, an organization that advocates for victims of child sexual abuse, seeks a volunteer with savvy social media skills. The right volunteer will have experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest, and he or she will be able to enhance Peaceful Hearts’ social media presence and engage audiences online.

Employment

Marketer: Troops to Firefighters, Inc., which assists veterans in transitioning out of the military into careers as firefighters, needs a volunteer to assist with marketing and branding their organization. The right volunteer should have experience in brand development, marketing strategy and planning, and fundraising, and he or she should be able to dedicate 30 hours per month.

Faith-Based

Graphic Designer: Mission Maranatha, Inc., needs a graphic designer to create a logo for their new initiative, “Les Partenaires du royaume de Dieu” (Partners of the Kingdom Of God). Details describing the organization’s vision for the logo are included in the link provided.

Health and Medicine

Graphic Designer: Engineers Without Borders San Francisco Professionals Chapter is looking for a graphic designer to create a flyer to use for their annual fundraising gala. Photos and information about their organization can be found here.

Illustrator: New Understandings, a nonprofit focused on sexual health education, is looking for an illustrator to provide illustrations for numerous written pieces and to accompany their social media presence. The right volunteer should have a minimum of one year of design experience, familiarity with Adobe Suite and Medium, and availability of 3-4 hours per week. The volunteer should also be comfortable discussing and collaborating on topics related to sexual health, mental health, and sexual violence.

Seniors

Seamstress or Craftsman: Arizona Family Hospice needs volunteers to create “sensory” or “fidget” blankets, pillows, or other items that can be used to ease and occupy patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Volunteers are encouraged to create items such as a “sturdy square lap blanket with zippers, buttons, [and] fabrics with different textures.”
